DEEP EDDY V.O.D.K.A. CONFERENCE

Digital Activation

This is about showing up for our people and having some fun with the internet.

A brand that’s all about keeping it real can’t just make ads. “It’s not what you say; it’s what you do.” … right? So we created a fake business conference that blocked people’s calendars so they could play hooky and go have fun with their friends.

Cultural Context: Post-pandemic, work took a turn. Everyone was working harder with little to show for it. People were burned out. (Remember “quiet quitting?”) And Zoom culture left us feeling lonely, isolated and in need of some real human interaction.

The Truth: Nothing gets in the way of fun like a day of work.

Strategic POV: It’s a great day for a day drink.

Creative Idea: The Virtual Optimized Developmental Knowledge Assembly (V.O.D.K.A.) Conference.

Event Promotion

We showed up where the burnout was highest — LinkedIn, WeWorks and elevator screens in prominent office buildings.

Eventbrite Registration

Once you signed up to “attend” the conference, a calendar block was immediately sent to your email.

Conference Day

Deep Eddy’s field marketing team held local activations at bars across the country.

For those who didn’t quite get the joke, we had a live-stream video with lots of important business stuff to watch.

Impact/Results

Thousands RSVP’d and an integrated PR effort garnered $8M in earned media. It was featured in Adweek and LBB.

Senior Strategist: Meredith Makhoul
Creatives: Chris Barnard / Howard Shows / Ben Estus / Bryson Schmidt
